This work references Davinci’s Last Supper and more specifically the rock band U2. It symbolizes it’s lead singer Bono (as Christ) giving the world his music and ultimately himself. The perception of Bono’s Christlike or “rock god” persona is something that he has acknowledged and embraced. Utilizing his altruistic nature and his ability as a public figure to bring about global awareness concerning hunger, peace, free trade etc fosters this image of a modern day Jesus. or at the very least the closest thing we have to one.
